Armstrong — the 19th plant in «Alabugа»
The plant on production of suspended ceiling panels of the American company Armstrong opened in the special economic zone «Alabuga» today. The acting president of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the president of Armstrong World Industries Matt Espe participated in a ceremony of start of the 19th plant in SEZ.
The Armstrong company works in Russia since 1993, but still had no plant here. Total investment in construction of plant made 3,6 billion rubles. Capacity — over 20 million square meters of ceiling plates a year.
As the CEO of plant Alexey Evdokimov reported, the plant got permission to commissioning in November, 2014, till February commissioning was conducted here, after started test production. The current staff of plant makes 136 people. In process of an exit to full capacity the number of the personnel will make 200 people.
Now at plant 4 product names are issued, until the end of the year the nomenclature has to extend to 15 names. Ceiling plates from mineral fiber which are made at plant, consist of environmentally friendly raw materials. The part of raw materials is delivered from abroad so far, but, on Evdokimov’s words, gradually more and more components of production is bought in Russia. All production wastes are subject to secondary processing and are used for release of finished goods.
Production of plant will be implemented in all territory of Russia, and also in Belarus and Kazakhstan. The main consumers of production of Armstrong traditionally are stations, the airports, healthcare institutions and educations.
The executive director of division of Armstrong Building Products Victor Grizzle told that at a site choice in Russia the company considered some platforms — in Moscow area and other regions of the central part of Russia. «Alabuga», according to him, was chosen because of a successful site from the point of view of logistics, the important role was played by both those conditions and support which were offered by SEZ. Existence in the region of professional shots became the third factor — V. Grizzle very much highly appreciated the staff of the new enterprise.
The acting president of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov at a ceremony thanked the American partners for the put trust today and that the project was realized precisely according to the plan and in the planned terms.
The head of Armstrong World Industries Matt Espe also expressed confidence that the new plant will promote growth of economy of Tatarstan and Russia. He thanked personally Rustam Minnikhanov for support during implementation of the project, noted also successful work of joint team of the Russian and American experts.
Solemn start of plant was symbolized by two ceiling panels — with a flag of Tatarstan and with the Armstrong logo — which Rustam Minnikhanov and Matt Espe inserted into a special support. After start guests of honor examined the enterprise.
