15.03.2016

Five thousand Russian-made engine have come from the production line of high-tech engine-plant Ford Sollers in the special economic zone «Alabuga». By the beginning of 2016, since the start of engine production in September last year, the level of engine localization has achieved 45%.

Today Russian atmospheric petrol engines fitted as standard on two Ford models, producing on the plant in Naberezhnye Chelny — subcompact crossover Ford EcoSport has 1.6 L Duratec engine of 122 hp, and the new Ford Fiesta sedan versions and hatchback — engines capacity of 85, 105 and 120 hp. The third model, Ford produced in Russia, which will be equipped with the Duratec 1.6-liter engine, will be the new Ford Focus.

These reliable and economical engines with low noise emission meet the highest quality standards Ford and latest environmental requirements. The engines from the Russian manufacture have passed a lot of tests to prove their quality and reliability.

As part of a long-term strategy for the localization of Ford Sollers engines produced in SEZ «Alabuga» have a significant level of localization, getting the basic components of Russian suppliers, and are producing from local raw materials.

Since 2015 Ford Sollers buys crankshaft castings, cast cylinder heads and cylinder block, crankshaft bearing caps, spark plugs produced from domestic raw, and in 2016 — pistons from Russian raw materials. In early February, the company signed an agreement with OOO «LLK-International» (100% subsidiary of OAO «LUKOIL»), providing for the supply of LUKOIL GENESIS oils for conveyor fill in all Russian-made engines produced at the new plant in Elabuga. In the future, a list of localized components will expand with the other aluminum parts and fasteners and wires.

The annual capacity of engine-Ford Sollers plant in the first phase is 105 000 engines, with a possible further increase to 200 000 engines per year. Not less than 30% manufactured in Russia Ford cars will be equipped with a local engine.

The new plant is equipped with advanced, high-tech equipment, allowing to automate the production process by 95%. Engine production involves the machining of the crankshaft, cylinder head and cylinder block, assembly line and quality control line. Equipment of shops meets all requirements of performance, sustainability and security in line with global Ford Motor Company standards.

Investments in new factory Ford Sollers production of engines amounted to $275 million.
