The first meeting of the new Expert Council of the special economic zone "Alabuga" was held on October 24 in Kazan in the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Tatarstan. Board members have approved the work schedule, elected Chairman, and approved three projects of potential residents.
The need to form a new Expert Council of SEZ "Alabuga" was caused by the transfer of management powers to the regional level. Functions of the Expert Council on industrial-production zones at the Ministry of Economic Development, to consider in detail the business plans of potential residents of "Alabuga" delegated to the Republic of Tatarstan. Government of the Republic of Tatarstan approved the regulations of the Expert Council of SEZ "Alabuga" and formed its composition.
There are 13 people in the newly formed Expert Council, including representatives of federal authorities. Head of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Tatarstan Shamil Ageev has been elected as Chairman of the Council at its first meeting.
Council’s members reviewed three investment projects of companies applying for resident status of SEZ "Alabuga": "August-Alabuga" company (the production of crop protection products), "KNT-Plast" (production of plasticized PVC and calendered PVC film) and plant of building foam. All three projects have been recommended for the status of resident before the meetings of the Supervisory Board of the special economic zone, chaired by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
After Expert Council approvement companies will sign the Agreement on industrial-production activity in the SEZ "Alabuga", which assigns them the status of a resident of a special economic zone. Thus, the number of "Alabuga" residents will increase to 51.
