First in Russia plant for production of automobile engines of a foreign company was launched today in a special economic zone «Alabuga». At the inauguration ceremony engine plant FordSollers attended Acting President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.

FordSollers engine plant was the first in Russia production car engines foreign brands. The entire volume produced at the plant in «Alabuga» engines will be supplied for cars Ford, manufactured at the Russian factories FordSollers. The first model produced was the engine gasoline engine 1,6 Ti-VCT Sigma — in different versions it develops the capacity of 85, 105 and 125 horsepower.

This modification will be equipped with no less than 30% of cars produced in Russia Ford — model Focus, EcoSport, Fiesta. In the first phase production capacity of manufacture is 105,000 engines per year, with the possibility of increasing to 200 thousand.

The amount of investment in new production was $ 275 million, the factory created 200 workplaces.

Before the opening ceremony for the Acting President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov organizers were held an excursion on new enterprise. Addressing the guests of the celebration, Minnikhanov called it a landmark event. «It is clear that the time for the automotive industry today is not the best, but after each fall is usually takeoff. FordSollers company already produces 5 models of the most modern cars in republic territory, and today we are launching production of engines », - said R. Minnikhanov.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Alexander Morozov said that today’s event is an indicator of investment attractiveness of Tatarstan, and at the same time — the result of a collaborative effort of investors, management of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan.

President of FordSollers Mark Ovenden thanked Rustam Minnikhanov and Alexander Morozov for their support in implementing the project. «The engine is made of world-class enterprise in the world level in the heart of Russia, from Russian components and Russian raw materials, — stated Mark Ovenden. — Today difficult times for the automotive industry in Russia, but we are confident that with the support of the country’s leadership, our project will be a success. »
