On August 10, a presentation of a new special economic zone of the industrial and production type "Novgorodskaya" under the management of the SEZ "Alabuga"took place. The working meeting was attended by the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov, the Governor of the Novgorod Region Andrey Nikitin and the General Director of the SEZ "Alabuga" Timur Shagivaleev and others.
"From the point of view of management, we have signed an agreement with the special economic zone "Alabuga". This project will be a partnership, we will use the competencies and experience that we have accumulated today in our best special economic zone of the country. Today, we have almost started training from the professional team of Alabuga, which will work here. Therefore, I am absolutely sure of success, " said Andrey Nikitin, the Governor of the Novgorod Region.
The new special economic zone has a convenient location between Moscow and St. Petersburg, which does not compete with the current site of the SEZ "Alabuga" in Tatarstan. The combination of two factors – the unique location and the use of the experience of attracting investments and managing "Alabuga" makes the new SEZ "Novgorodskaya" even more attractive for investors and the state. The application of the best international practices by Alabuga will also contribute to the active and effective development of the site.
At the moment, we have received confirmations from 7 potential residents of the Novgorodskaya special economic Zone about their intentions to implement investment projects. The projected volume of investments of residents in the coming years will amount to more than 8 billion rubles. It is planned to create more than 700 jobs.
The Alabuga team has been given real broad powers to develop the site in the Novgorod Region. Active support is provided at the highest level – together with the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Alabuga has removed legal and administrative barriers under resolution No. 1704, which previously did not allow building ready-made production facilities and creating joint management companies.
"This is the first experience when two regions create a special economic zone in close partnership. The Novgorod Region is acting wisely that Alabuga, which has a 15-year practice, was chosen as a partner. We will closely monitor this experience, because we consider it potentially useful for the country as a whole," said Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
