Wagnermaier, a resident of the Alabuga Special Economic Zone and a specialized producer of semi-trailers, has been named the winner of the 2025 “Best Commercial Vehicle of the Year in Russia” awards. The company took first place in the “Trailer/Semi-Trailer of the Year” category, with experts praising WAGNERMAIER CRS3 FOR A LONG TIME curtainsider semi-trailer.
The model stands out for its record-breaking side load height of 2,610 mm and low curb weight of just 6.5 tons. It is equipped with German-made SAF axles with a lifespan for 2 million kilometers, a WABCO braking system, and a reinforced chassis weighing 2.2 tons. The semi-trailer successfully passed testing at NAMI, enduring loads 2.5 times higher than the standard.
“Winning such a prestigious award is a major achievement for our entire team. It confirms that our approach to localization and the implementation of advanced technologies is correct,” said Rustam Subkhankulov, the company’s CEO. “We’ll continue to scale up production, improve quality, and expand our lineup to maintain our leadership in the market.”
Wagnermaier notes that by the end of 2025, the localization level of its production will reach 60%. The company has already patented several in-house innovations, including a monoblock frame made of high-strength steel with a 15-year anti-corrosion guarantee, the WM-Lock cargo securing system, and its proprietary lighting modules. Three more technologies are set to be patented this year, including an innovative storage cassette for bunks.
The semi-trailer plant launched in March 2024 within the Alabuga SEZ. The project was developed in partnership with a leading European manufacturer of highway transport equipment, with a total investment of 745 million rubles.
The company took advantage of Alabuga’s Brownfield support program, setting up operations in a ready-to-use 9,500 sq.m. production facility, fully equipped with essential infrastructure, including gas supply, independent ventilation system, etc.
Alabuga SEZ is known as a full-cycle partner, offering best-in-class engineering, construction, HR, and social infrastructure. The zone hosts 43 unique import-substitution facilities — leaders in their respective sectors. To date, Alabuga has created over 25,000 jobs. Total investment in the zone stands at 183 billion rubles, with resident companies generating 238 billion rubles in revenue.
