Russian President Vladimir Putin conducted a working meeting with Andrey Nikitin, the Governor of the Novgorod Region. During their discussion, Governor Nikitin presented a report on the progress of key projects within the region, which included the construction of a university campus in Novgorod and the development of the Novgorodskaya Special Economic Zone.

Recognizing the achievements in the development of the Novgorodskaya Special Economic Zone (SEZ), the governor emphasized that construction is currently a year ahead of schedule.

“We are progressing through the special economic zone a year ahead of schedule. The first three residents are already there,” Nikitin stated. “Next year, GigaFabrika will join us, focusing on the assembly of televisions and smart speakers. Everything is on track here.”

In the context of advancements in the educational sector, the governor announced that the construction of a modern university campus is expected to be completed by 2027. “To be honest, we may be being overly optimistic with our timeline; I set the planned deadline, but I believe we will finish ahead of schedule. This will accommodate an additional 4,000 students at our university,” the regional leader emphasized.

Putin expressed his support for the projects, emphasizing their significance for the development of the Novgorod region and for the overall enhancement of the educational and scientific sectors.

The Alabuga SEZ team has been assigned the task of establishing a special economic zone in Velikiy Novgorod, employing the same principles that underpin the most successful SEZ in Russia.

The construction of the university campus in Velikiy Novgorod is currently being undertaken by the management company of the Novgorodskaya Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in collaboration with the government of the Novgorod Region and Yaroslav-the-Wise Novgorod State University (NovGU). This initiative is part of the “Science and Universities” national project.

The campus will feature a comprehensive infrastructure, including five residential buildings, a fitness center, a swimming pool, a technopark, coworking spaces, and rental commercial areas. This development is aligned with the “City-University” priority regional project aimed at enhancing the integration between urban and educational environments.
