Turkish residents of SEZ "Alabuga" highly appreciated the effectiveness of the special zone at the Izmir International Fair

Within the framework of the 86th Izmir International Fair, the special economic zone «Alabuga» presented opportunities within the framework of the round table «Special Economic Zones of Russia: Prospects for Development, Possibilities for Localization of Turkish Companies and Experience in Implementing Projects». Also SEZ «Alabuga» was presented at the stand of the Republic of Tatarstan in the framework of the fair.

Speaking at the plenary session «The New Stage of the Russian-Turkish Partnership in the Trade and Economic Sphere,» Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, stressed that the largest Turkish companies are residents of the Alabuga SEZ. Rustam Minnikhanov invited forum participants to the meeting of the Russian-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation, which will be held on October 20 in Tatarstan, on the territory of the Alabuga SEZ.

Minister of Economy of Turkey Nyhat Zeibecchi stressed that the potential for the development of economic relations between Russia and Turkey has not been fully realized. «There is a great potential for cooperation in petrochemicals and metallurgy,» the minister said.

The General Director of the SEZ «Alabuga» Timur visited the Aegean Free Zone — the first industrial free zone in Turkey, which now accounts for one third of all investments in the republic. It is also the first free zone in Turkey, designed and managed by a private company, ESBAS. Today, 170 companies (100 Turkish and 70 foreign) are registered in the Aegean Free Zone. There are companies from the USA, Germany, France, Canada, Great Britain and other countries. In 2016, the trade turnover of the zone amounted to 4 billion dollars, and from the time of its foundation — 67 billion dollars.

During the forum, the delegation of the Republic of Tatarstan also met with the companies BMC, the tourist company ANEX TOUR, visited the Star oil refinery of SOCAR.
