Rustam Minnikhanov has launched the construction of a steel service center "Alabuga"

Today President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov has laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new resident of the special economic zone "Alabuga" - "SMC Alabuga".  A ceremony at the site of the future plant in the SEZ was also attended by the governor of Chelyabinsk oblast Boris Dubrovsky, chairman of the JSC "MMK" Board of Directors Victor Rashnikov, General Director of JSC "SEZ" Alabuga " Timur Shagivaleev and other dignitaries.

 

Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works and current SEZ resident "Alabuga-Dzhoshkunoz" took on the role of investors of the "SMC Alabuga" project. Together they will invest 350 million rubles in the project. The management company of a special economic zone "Alabuga" will build and lease manufacturing facility for the resident, construction will cost  670 million rubles. This is the first time when a special economic zone forms lease production facilities to the needs and in accordance with the requirements of the resident.

 

The new manufactory will produce steel stock material (blanks) for further production of cars' body parts. "Dzhoshkunoz", a traditional supplier of stamped parts for the Ford Sollers, in conjunction with the "Magnitogorsk metallurgical combine", the supplier of raw material (steel coil), initiated a joint project with the aim to obtain synergies and to take benefits of the logistic advantage.  Nearest service centers capable of producing steel stock material in the form of blanks, are in Kaluga and St. Petersburg.

 

The new manufactory is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2018, it will produce up to 40 thousand tons of billets per year, and in the future more than 60 thousand tons. Deputy general director of MMK sales Nikolay Lyadov said in an interview with reporters that in the future the case of the expansion of capacities in the metal center "Alabuga" up to 150 ths. tons per year will be considered.

 

At the end of the ceremony, the dignitaries laid the tiny bonnets of cars in cement, marking the beginning of a new manufacture construction. After that Rustam Minnikhanov, Victor Rashnikov and Boris Dubrovsky visited "Dzhoshkunoz Alabuga" and "Ford Sollers Elabuga" factories.
