"SMC Alabuga" began to supply equipment for production

Construction of the service metal center «SMC Alabuga» — a joint project of the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works and the Turkish Coskunoz company — is going on in the SEZ «Alabuga». The first 58-tonne detail of the main press for the production of steel car billets has been delivered to production. Construction of the building continues by the management company SEZ «Alabuga» — commissioning and production start-up is planned for the 1st quarter of 2018.
Today the first and one of the most difficult parts — the foundation of the press — has been brought to the «SMC Alabuga» production building. Weight of that part is 58 tons. In the future, the base will be supplemented by three more parts weighting up to 70 tons. The press supplier is the German company Schuler, the world market leader in metal processing. After receiving all the necessary details, the press assembly will begin, which will take about 4 months.
Construction of the «SMC Alabuga» production building with a total area of 7 764 sq.m. continues in parallel. Construction is conducted by the SEZ’s management company. This is the first «build-to-suit» project when «Alabuga» constructs a building for the needs of the resident. The management company invested 670 million rubles in the construction. In the future the building will be leased. The initiators of the project — «Coskunoz » and OJSC «MMK» — invested 350 million rubles.
The first stone in the base of the SMC «Alabuga» was laid on December 12, 2016 with the participation of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. Start-up of the project is planned for the first quarter of 2018.
