Over 3,000 college students attended the meeting.

As part of the military-patriotic education of students, a lecture by Russian military historian Alexei Isaev "The art of defensive battle. Breakwalls of the Kursk Bulge: Cherkasskoye, Belgorod, Ponyri" was held last weekend at the headquarters of Alabuga Polytech.

The candidate of Historical Sciences told the audience about the defensive operations of the Red Army on the Kursk Bulge in order to disrupt a major offensive by the Wehrmacht forces. Soviet commanders used the so-called "breakwalls" to separate enemy groups and thwart the attack of the fascist invaders.

The students listened with interest to a lecture dedicated to one of the key battles of the Great Patriotic War. After that, the participants asked the military history expert questions, to which they received detailed answers, expanding their knowledge of the times of those years.

In addition, the historian visited the playing fields where college students engaged in the reenactment of battles from the Great Patriotic War through paintball matches.

According to Alexei Isaev, while paintball allows players to envision themselves as heroes defending their positions, the reality of war is far more complex and perilous.

"Paintball players often believe that playing defensively and taking cover is advantageous, but in actual combat, the opposite is true. Maintaining a defensive position in a large-scale conflict can be extremely challenging and dangerous," the expert explained.

The historian also emphasized the importance of focusing on military-patriotic education for young people today.

"Military-patriotic education helps individuals understand their role not only in life but also as members of a nation with a rich history. When people feel connected to a greater whole, they can achieve more than when acting alone. Teamwork consistently leads to more significant outcomes," Isaev stated.
