15.10.2020
Sollers Ford announces the restart of its engine plant located in the Alabuga special economic zone. The plant plans to produce diesel engines for the Ford Transit line of commercial vehicles. Serial production of the engines is scheduled for 2023.

The engine plant covers an area of 42,600 square meters. and is located in close proximity to the Sollers Ford plant. The plant is equipped with advanced, high-tech equipment that meets all the requirements of productivity, environmental friendliness and safety in accordance with the global standards of the Ford Motor Company.

Sollers Ford received a preferential loan from the Industrial Development Fund (IDF) in the amount of RUB 500 million under the Component Products program. The funds raised by the IDF will be used to purchase the necessary additional equipment for the machining of diesel engine cylinder blocks. Automation of production will be established at an extremely high level, which will have a positive impact on the quality of the engines produced.

“As part of the strategy of maximum localization of production of Ford Transit vehicles in Russia, it was decided to restart the plant for the production of diesel engines,” says Adil Shirinov, President and CEO of Sollers Ford. "This step will allow us to ensure the stability of our business in the current environment and strengthen our position as an important player in the Russian automotive industry."

Production of Sigma 1.6 engines for passenger cars started at the plant in 2015 and was suspended in 2019 following the company's restructuring. The plant became the first such high-tech enterprise on the territory of Russia, the automation of production processes of which was 95%.

Ford Transit is one of the most popular vehicles in the LCV segment on the market. The choice and loyalty of customers are due to a number of important advantages of the car - quality and reliability, low cost of ownership, a high level of service in an official dealer network at an affordable cost of maintenance - one of the lowest in the LCV segment - and many others.

The production of Ford Transit is established at the Sollers Ford plant in Yelabuga using a full-cycle technology, which allows us to offer Russian buyers a modern product, fully customized for the buyer and adapted to operation in Russian conditions, at a competitive price. The line of basic versions includes an all-metal van, bus and chassis, cars are available to order with three base lengths, two roof heights and all types of drive, including all-wheel drive.
