Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov visited SEZ "Alabuga"

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Yuri Borisov arrived in Tatarstan on a working trip, he was accompanied by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and General Director of SEZ "Alabuga" Timur Shagivaleev.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Yuri Borisov visited the plant for the production of carbon fiber "Alabuga-Fiber" in SEZ "Alabuga" and held a meeting on the topic of import substitution of composite materials in civil aircraft and other industries.

During the meeting chaired by Yuri Borisov in SEZ "Alabuga", issues of import substitution of composite materials for civil aircraft and other industries were discussed. In particular, it was noted that, starting in 2019, it was possible to completely replace the import component base for creating a composite wing, mechanization elements, center section and tail of the Russian medium-range passenger aircraft MS-21-300.

"The creation of a carbon fiber production facility in SEZ "Alabuga" is a very important project for import substitution of raw materials and the creation of a closed cycle for domestic production of composite materials from carbon fibers," Borisov said. - "We hope we will make significant progress in the global market for carbon fiber products. At the same time, I would like to emphasize that in connection with the disposal of the old nomenclature of carbon materials, the development, coordination with customers, production, testing and qualification of a line of new carbon materials is required. And also - testing products of varying scale."

The second stage of the "Alabuga-Fiber" was presented to Yuri Borisov by Alexander Tyunin, General Director of the UMATEX, Composite Division of Rosatom.

Alexander Tyunin noted that "the introduction of new capacities will allow meet the needs of the Russian market in medium-strength, high-strength, high-modulus carbon fiber and consolidate the independence of the Russian Federation in the field of composite materials, as well as successfully compete in international markets with products that are not inferior in quality and price to foreign counterparts."
At present, "Alabuga-Fiber" produces carbon fibers (HC) of various denominations from 3K (3000 elementary fibers in a bundle) to 50K with strength up to 4.9 GPa and modulus of elasticity up to 260 GPa.
