A representative office of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization opened in Alabuga

Today, February 8, in the main administrative and business center of SEZ «Alabuga» held a ceremony of opening of the representative office of the pilot zone «SCO China», which will give a new impetus to the development of relations between manufacturers in Russia and China and become a solid foundation for international business cooperation.

At the opening of the representative office of the pilot zone «SCO-China» via video conferencing Nikos Topuzidis, Deputy Director General of Investment Attraction of SEZ «Alabuga» and Zhang Dong, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Cooperation Demonstration Zone Management Committee signed a memorandum which allows to bring confidence between the industries of the two countries to a fundamentally new level and create a favorable investment climate.

Nikos Topuzidis expressed thanks to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization for organizing the event and noted that the trade turnover between Russia and China has reached 170 billion dollars. The leaders of the two world powers have set a goal to increase trade turnover to $200 billion by 2024. «Alabuga» plans to contribute to achieving this result ahead of schedule.

«We are actively cooperating with large and medium-sized manufactures in China. The situation in the world has shown how important it is to have a reliable partner. China certainly is. In an era of change, it is important to pay close attention to industry and try to raise it to an unprecedented new level of development. Zhang Dong, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Cooperation Demonstration Zone Steering Committee, spoke about the organizations projects and noted that the signed memorandum with SEZ Alabuga opens up new opportunities for the development of Chinese companies’ business in Russia.

«We talked to Alabuga, the Republic of Tatarstan and Moscow and saw serious intentions for cooperation. SCO has set up overseas warehouses in Russia, several transit border warehouses In Ussuri, Suifenhe and other places and successfully implemented economic and trade cooperation platforms such as REX Russia, implemented the China-Russia Biomedical Industrial Park. China-Russia Industrial Park of Machinery and Electrical Engineering. And we are ready to expand our opportunities, we hope for fruitful and long joint activities. » Zhang Dong expressed his hope.

In complement, the Shanghai Cooperation Demonstration Zone enterprises, such as China-Russia Energy Foundation, Tradeworld SCO Certification Service, Certification Service Co.Ltd presented their projects to SEZ «Alabuga» and proposed options for cooperation.

SEZ «Alabuga» is actively looking for technology partners in China, is ready to create joint ventures and co-finance projects of Chinese investors to 50% CAPEX. It is important to note that Alabuga plans to increase the number of residents to 195 enterprises and attract new Chinese companies by 2032. The best special economic zone of Russia is open to cooperation with enterprises from China, guarantees all-round support and the most developed infrastructure.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an international organization founded in 2001 by the leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. At present time, the SCO includes thirteen friendly countries. The main tasks of the international organization ae declared the strengthening of stability and security, economic cooperation development, energy co-management, scientific and cultural interaction.

Today «Alabuga» is infrastructure partner of full-cycle, which provides the best engineering, construction, personnel, social infrastructure. More than 30 unique import-substituting productions, which are leaders in their industries, are located on the territory of SEZ. Main indicators of SEZ Alabuga functioning: volume of residents’ income for 9 months of 2022 - 105 billion rubles; number of jobs: without considering management company – 8704, including management company – 10,480; total volume of private investment – 162 billion rubles.
