For the first time, SEZ "Alabuga" will build a production facility for a new resident
Today the advisory council of SEZ "Alabuga" approved the drafts of two companies competing for the status of special economic zone residents: SMC "Alabuga" and GIS "Nefteservis". The total investment to be paid in the creation of new industries is 1 billion rubles. Project SMC "Alabuga" will be the first time when the SEZ "Alabuga" will build production site for its resident.
SMC "Alabuga" (Service metal center "Alabuga") intends to produce steel stock material (blanks) for the needs of the automotive industry. The initiators of the project are OJSC "MMK" (Metallurg Metal Combine) - the largest metallurgical plant in Russia; and OOO "Dzhoshkunoz Alabuga" - the current resident of the SEZ, a manufacturer of steel stamped parts for the automotive industry.
According to the representative of OJSC "MMK", Tatarstan and the Volga region are the largest areas of concentration of automotive enterprises. Release potential is more than 1.2 million vehicles per year. However, in these areas there is no modern service center capable of producing billets in the form of blanks which are needed for producing car curly details in the next phase. Nearest service centers capable of doing so are located in Kaluga and St. Petersburg. Logistical advantages and possibilities of synergetic partnership with "Dzhoshkunoz Alabuga", the current resident of the SEZ, have been a driving factor in the creation of the new enterprise.
GIS "Nefteservice" project, discussed during the meeting of the Expert Council, plans to build a plant for the production of flexible tubings. The projects of the two companies will be sent to the Supervisory Board of the SEZ, chaired by Rustam Minnikhanov.
