Alabuga was visited by the Minister of Economy of Turkey

On October 8, 2016 the Minister of the Economy of the Republic of Turkey Nihat Zeybekci visited the "Alabuga" special economic zone during his visit to Tatarstan. He was accompanied by the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.

Honored guests participated in the opening ceremony of the "Trakya Glass Rus" and "Automotive Glass Rus" plants, visited two more enterprises and met with Turkish businessmen working in Tatarstan.

"Trakya Glass Rus" is a joint project of the "Sisecam" (Turkey) and "Saint-Gobain" (France) companies on production of building (flat) glass, mirrors and coated glass. The investment volume is 7 billion rubles, more than 250 work places have been created. The production capacity of the line for flat glass production is 250 thousand tons a year, mirrors - 4.5 million sq.m. a year. The raw materials base for production is localized in the Russian Federation.

"Automative Glass Alliance Rus" is a project of the Turkish "Sisecam" holding for the production of automotive glass in the amount of 6.4 mln. units a year. The investment volume is 3.9 bln. rubles, 311 work places have been created.

The project is aimed at the production of automotive glass for the Russian market. For today the main consumers in Russia are "AVTOVAZ", "Renault-Nissan Alliance", "Volkswagen". The factory in the "Alabuga" currently provides 20% of import substitution in the industry. The projected capacity of the plant allows to increase this figure to 50%. The production localization level currently stands at 55% for windshields, 98% for side windows and 55% for rear view glasses. The main supplier of raw material - sheet glass is the SEZ "Alabuga" resident  JSC "Trakya Glass Rus'.

Speaking at the opening ceremony Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated the "Sisecam" management on start of new plants and noted that today Tatarstan actively cooperates with Turkish companies.
