SEZ Alabuga discussed the set-up of a pilot zone for highly automated vehicles

The meeting of the working group on creation of the pilot zone for testing of highly automated vehicles on the territory of SEZ took place in the special economic zone «Alabuga» on April 14. The group consisted of the representatives of the State Budgetary Institution «BDD», Federal Autonomous Institution «Rosdorniye», «Glavtadortrans», PJSC «KAMAZ», SEZ «Alabuga», the KFU PISH, MADI, LLC «Tozelesh» and LLC «Komplexnaya Bezopasnost».

The meeting participants discussed the prospects of joint development of technologies in the field of HATS, engineering solutions for the construction of the pilot zone, the protection of special equipment and architecture of the science cluster.

The guests also personally inspected the track, where the zone for "smart" transport will be built. It will be equipped with cameras, special sensors and radar equipment. Its length will be 9,2 km.

The SEZ «Alabuga» looks at the project positively. Head of Operations and Energy Department Stanislav Svetchikov notes that the company is interested in advanced technologies.

So, on its territory there will appear a center of competence on intellectual transport systems (ITS) technologies, providing safe movement of highly automated vehicles (VATS).

According to the head of the department «Traffic management and safety» MADI Sultan Zhankaziev, by 2025 «Alabuga» should become the main expert and educational platform in the country in the field of unmanned mobility.

As a reminder, an agreement on creating the pilot zone was signed in September 2022 within the framework of the Kazan Digital Week International Forum between Timur Shagivaleev, General Director of SEZ «Alabuga», and Rifkat Minnikhanov, Director of the State Budgetary Institution «Road Traffic Safety».

All types and models of unmanned vehicles will be tested on the roads of the pilot zone and their interaction with the road transport infrastructure will be practiced. Based on the results of the experiments, scientific-methodological and normative-technical bases will be created.
